Kinja'd!!!

Somehow managed to leave Aubergine in neutral with the e-brake off, and it apparently very... slowly... rolled down the driveway into the fence.

Kinja'd!!!

Managed to tear the sidewall, pull the front bumper off, put a crease in the fender, and scratch the bumper, fender, rocker, and mirror all to hell.

Kinja'd!!!

I put the bumper back on, h ave the spare on, and have an extra tire and the flat in the back to get swapped over and make it properly drivable.

Now I h ave to decide if I’m going to get it fixed, or if this is the official step into beater territory.

That’s a big “oops” if I may be so bold as to imply.

I did that once, hit was lucky enough to see the car rolling away from inside the house. I caught it before it went into the woods. Sorry you weren't as lucky

Still better than the last time I did it. about 15 years ago this happened and I chased it into the woods. Ended up getting my arm mashed between the car and a tree. I needed 15 stitches, was bruised from fingertips to shoulder, and still have a nasty scar on my arm.

Oh nooo that sucks! I’d probably call on insurance. Not as bad as it could have been, though!

Hope you weren’t in the “we don’t need no electronic nannies” camp before , as this would never happen to a modern electronic parking brake + auto vehicle. One of those “forgot about my kid in the back seat” situations.

I did the same thing. Parked it in neutral on a mostly flat driveway. For some reason (guardian angel), I was prompted to go back outside somehow and found it 20 feet down and gaining speed. Threw half my body through the window (also conveniently left rolled down) and yanked the E-brake. Unfortunately, my neighbors were out gardening at the time and gave me some cold looks...

Damn, that sucks friend...how deep are the scratches? If the ones on the body are through all the layers of paint, I’d at least touch them up with something quickly before rust sets in...the bumper won’t rust, so worry about that later.

That’s a huge fear of mine. Setting the handbrake now is so automatic that I can never remember if I’ve actually done it, so I spend a lot of time worrying that I didn’t.

We’ve all done this.

Altho once I left a car in drive and walked away. For 10 minutes! Thankfully I was parked up against a snow bank and didn’t have enough power at idle to go throughout it.

Did you give them cold looks back, for not letting you know your car was rolling off?

I’d get it fixed. It’s in good enough condition I don’t think it’s time to make it a beater yet.

No half measures! Either fix all of it properly, or completely botch together the bare minimum for as little cash outlay as possible.

If the bumper pops back on, just get a new tire and you will be fine :o)

I think you get it fixed. Probably even make a claim if you have comprehensive. The scratches on the plastic bumper might not bother me too much but I wouldn’t want to leave the fender like that.

In any event, maybe wheel chocks will be the hot new Secret Senna gift this year...
